You should try these ways to reset your computer without a display.

1. Using Keyboard

If your PC’s display is faulty or isn’t working, you can use the keyboard keys to reset it and return back to its factory default settings.

Here is how you can reset your computer using the keyboard:

Window 10

  1. Press the Windows key from the keyboard.
  2. Then type “Reset” from the keyboard and press Enter
  3. And then, you should again press the Enter Key.
  4. Press the TAB key from the keyboard and hit Enter
  5. Again press the TAB and then Enter
  6. Press the Enter Key three times slowly.

This method will take you through the steps of resetting the PC; then, you should wait about one minute. And check if the computer’s display is working or if other problems are solved.

These steps are for a Windows 10 device. However, you can give them a try. They might be helpful for your Windows 7, 8, or 11 computer.

2. Removing Hard Drive or SSD

Another method of resetting your computer back to factory default settings without display is using the hard drive or SSD.

In this method, you should remove your computer’s side or back panel to access the hard or SSD drive.

And then, remove it from your computer, and insert it into another PC that is working correctly. After inserting it into another PC, remove the old OS system and install a new one.

Once you’ve installed the new window or other OS on the hard drive, you can insert it into your faulty PC; and check if it helps.

Note: In this method of removing your hard disk, your data and files will be wiped out. So, you should back up your data before removing the old OS.

3. Connect External Screen

If you want to reset your computer without a display, your screen or display may be faulty. So, you should consider using another screen or display option to reset the PC.

So, you should connect the system to an external monitor screen via the VGA, DP, or HDMI cables.

Suppose you are having issues with your laptop screen and want to reset it without a display. You should connect it to the external monitor screen.

And then, press the Window+P key from the keyboard; it will bring your laptop to the project menu. And you can share the laptop screen on the monitor to reset it.

However, if you are having trouble projecting the laptop on the monitor, you should press the Window+P key several times.
